We are Supporting Local Artist Kate Barker!

We’re excited to announce that we are supporting local artist Kate Barker who produces beautiful contemporary artwork. Kate has specially created a series of mixed media paintings that capture the surroundings of our secluded coastline and beaches of Gara Rock Hotel. We have displayed Kate’s art around the hotel, and they are available for purchase.

These vibrant works for Gara Rock cleverly combine line drawing and mark making with painting. Kate walks the coastline to generate visions and document information which enable her to create small paintings that are later built upon in her studio to form a sense of escapism. Past travelling experiences have given Kate insight into different cultures that inspire her artwork and creates a sense of individuality to her pieces.

Kate said: “I want my works to transport the viewer to that special place, evoke memories and sentiments of being by the ocean”

Kate is currently living and working in South Devon and her love for art shines through every piece of work she creates. Having a 1st Class Degree from Manchester along with further studies at the acclaimed Faculty of Arts in Valencia, Spain adds an element of culture and professionalism to her artwork.
