Our lovely Gara guests are looking forward to a brilliant year and accommodation is booking quickly. As soon as you have your chosen dates, we'd recommend reserving your stay.

Paul Hegley and his team are serving up delicious meals in our restaurant, so make the most of your stay and enjoy some alfresco dining while soaking up the views. 

Yes, every accommodation has access to the pool and spa facilities included with the stay. You do not need to make a booking for the swimming pool. The outdoor pool will be open from April to October, weather dependant.

Breakfast in our acclaimed restaurant is not included within the price of your stay but you are welcome to join us by contacting the hotel's guest services team on 01548 845 946 to book. 

The nearest supermarket is either Tesco or Morrison’s in Kingsbridge which is approximately a 35 minute drive from the hotel. We do advise that you stop for any groceries on your way to Gara Rock as you will most likely drive through Kingsbridge.

The closest petrol station is the Texaco garage in East Charleton which is approximately a 25 minute drive, the postcode is TQ7 2AP.

We are on the other side of the estuary to Salcombe, to drive to Salcombe from the hotel takes approx. 1 hour. There is a passenger ferry which leaves from below the Venus café at East Portlemouth daily and takes you across the estuary to Salcombe (please check timings with Guest Services on the day as the ferry times are seasonal).

The ferry crossing takes approx. 5 minutes, they do accept contactless payment and dogs. To get to East Portlemouth there are two walks to choose from which start from the hotel; the beautiful South West Costal path which takes 45 minutes to an hour, you will have views of the spectacular coastline. A shorter walk is through the woods which is more direct and takes approx. 30 minutes.

You are more than welcome to bring your canine friend to join you for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We welcome dogs in both the lounge and restaurant. Some of our accommodation is pet friendly, including our Coastal Cottages and selected Suites. If your accommodation has a garden, it will be pet friendly. We charge £40 to bring your dog for a short break, or £60 for a week-long stay. 

The cinema is a complimentary facility for our guests. You can book a cinema slot when you check-in to the hotel and we will provide you with a list of films to choose from. You can book a slot throughout the day at 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm or 9pm depending on availability. It will just be your party in the cinema at any one time and you are able to bring your own DVD for us to play if you have a favourite.

Our self-catering options consist of a full kitchen including oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dish washer and washing machine. We provide cooking utensils and crockery so you will just need to bring the food. There will be tea bags, a cafetiere and coffee, washing up liquid, kitchen towel, a washing up sponge and tea towel already there in the kitchen for you.

We also provide all bed linen and towels along with toilet roll, body wash, body lotion, shampoo and conditioner.

The restaurant and residents lounge are on street level and we do have a lift down to the spa, pool and cinema room. Some accommodation can be accessed via this lift or are already on street level without stairs in the accommodation. The accommodation includes the Sunset View rooms, Junior Suites 1, 5, 15, 16 and Suites 8 and 9. Please call us to ensure you are booked into the most suitable room for your requirements.

We are very lucky to be perched on the edge of a cliff, so all our accommodation have lovely sea views.

Our hotel rooms (Sunset View, Junior Suites, Suites and Out of the Ordinary Suites) have a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, hairdryer, slippers and dressing gowns.

All bathrooms have complimentary body wash, body lotion shampoo and conditioner.

The Penthouse and Signal House also have kitchens including hob, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer.

The self-catering Family Suites and Coastal Cottages have well equipped kitchens, see above FAQ for more details.

The Penthouse has a roll top bath in the master bedroom and rainfall shower. There is also a shower over the bath in the third bathroom and a rainfall shower in the double bedroom ensuite bathroom

Coastal Cottages and Family Suites have both bath and shower in the family bathroom.

The pool is open to all guests every day from 8am until 6pm, there are no specific times for children. Children under 16 years must be supervised all times whilst using the indoor/outdoor pools. The outdoor pool is open from April until October (weather dependant).
Children under 16 are unable to use the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna due to the high heat, please see our spa policy for full details of age restrictions.
